Abbreviations

Abbreviations are shortened versions of a word or phrase. There is no universal system for abbreviating words. Each of the abbreviations below can be written with or without periods (also called full stops) between each letter. For example IPV and I.P.V. are both correct for intimate partner violence or GPA  and G.P.A. for grade point average.
